Guide Review - Collecting Model Car and Truck Kits

Author Tim Boyd has gathered 120 color and 30 black and white photos of assembled kits and boxed models in a book aimed at beginning collectors of classic injection moulded plastic vehicle kits from the 1950s - 1970's. The text is interesting and informative with outlines of what important design details are found in the kits from various manufacturers. The model kits were issued as popular new cars were released, so the text also follows the history of automobile development and includes discussions of kits which allowed the building of both stock and modified versions from a single kit. Much of the material in this book deals with the North American car market of the 1960's and 70's. There is a lot of nostalgia for the cars of that era and much of the market in model kits from that period is driven by memories of the cars themselves.
