While you wouldn't use these tiny wooden bobbins to make real lace miniatures as they are very fragile, these dollhouse scale lace bobbins are easy to make without a lathe. Based on round wooden or plastic toothpicks, you can make them in a range of traditional bobbin styles with a little patient filing. As the materials are easy to obtain, you can make a realistic amount of bobbins for a miniature scene, once you get the hang of the technique and don't break your tiny bobbins!
This is part of a set of miniature lace making tools I'm working on at the request of a reader. They make great miniatures as lace making was such a wide spread activity for a long period of time. Hopefully next week, the lace maker's cushion or pillow project will be ready.
