I've seldom found a crafts person who doesn't collect books on their hobby. One way to enjoy both collections if you are a miniaturist or modeller, is to make a bookend to display your miniatures. Less than half the size of the average dolls house room, they still make a great space for focussed displays of dolls house miniatures, and in a pinch, they can be used for photo backdrops for smaller scale dolls as well.
Easy to build from MDF or Baltic Birch Plywood, they are a good project for someone who wants to practise with a small amount of mdf and various exterior or interior finishes, before committing themselves to a larger display. They also work well as a setting for a small diorama. If a bookend doesn't have enough space, consider building one of these miniature display projects

I am just getting into this wonderful world of Miniatures. I checked out a Catalog from the local library. I found a store in Denver CO that carries Southwest and Native American Miniatures. I have looked and searched the web, I even called the phone number( which is no longer in service). Could you or someone help me? The name of the shop/company is “Maison Des Maison”. This catalog was published in 1995. I suppose it is out of business, but maybe someone knows where I can find these products?
Thanks, Rita in Texas
Hi Rita, I left a message about this in the miniatures forum under “looking for”. Hopefully someone will get back with information. What type of products did they carry that you are looking for? They may be carried by someone else under a different name.
