After posting yesterday's instructions for planting a miniature garden in a broken flowerpot, I thought it might be a good idea to list some of the garden style accessories you can easily make in miniature. Just make sure you use miniature items, materials and glues that will stand up to sun and moisture, as well as winter cold if you will leave your planted garden outside.
- Garden Gazing Balls
- Garden Shovels, Spades, Forks and Trowels - from printable miniatures or from thin metal.
- Step Stools - these can be made into simple miniature benches.
- Fence Pickets From Craft Sticks
- Garden Gate - I used my gates to make a dollhouse bed, but you can use them in a miniature garden.
For those of you new to container gardening or new to grouping small scale plants for miniature gardens, these tips for miniature plants will help you keep your collection growing.
Finally, for inspiration check out the many photos of tiny gardens exhibited by Janit Calvo at the Seattle Dollhouse Miniature Shows. This Bali Beach Scene is a great way to create a holiday memory (or dream of the future) in miniature. Not all miniature gardens need to be pristine! Dad's Day in the Garden is another of my favorites from Janit Calvo of Two Green Thumbs.
