Great Time for Outdoor Photos of Miniatures

The last days of summer and first days of spring (for the southern hemispheres) are great times to take outdoor photos of your miniatures. Set up on a table with an appropriate backdrop you can get some phenomenally realistic shots. Check out the work of Michael Paul Smith and get your diecasts, trains, and houses out into the real world for fantastic photos.

Here are some tips from model horse writer Jeanne Grunert, on how to take model horse photos outdoors. If the weather isn't great where you are, Jeanne also has an article on simple photo backdrops for model horses and I've set up an article on building a simple portable photo table you can use indoors or out to set up small scenes. The same techniques apply to a teddy bear's picnic as apply to a model horse or a die cast diorama. Find the right backdrop, the right light and get to it!
