Make Chinese New Year Miniatures

By February 14, 2010

Follow me on:

Gung Hay Fat Choi! There are lots of ways to welcome in the New Year with interesting miniatures. First, its a great time to look for small tigers, colorful lanterns and other decorations for an Asian scene. There are also a number of tutorials on the web to help you celebrate:

Canon Creative Park have some wonderful paper sculptures suited to the New Year.

If these look too slick or complicated, Build a Chinese Dragon Puppet with instructions on "That Artist Woman" 's Blog.

To add to your luck this New Year's, get out some red silk embroidery thread and tie some decorative good luck knots (shamrock knots) to decorate the windows in your miniature scene for the New Year. You can find a good explanation of how to tie the knots if you go down to knot 6 on this list of useful knots. Make them from red or gold thread to hang in the windows of your miniature display.
