I've always admired bats. They were my friends at the beach, keeping down the mosquito population. I'm not fond of the lurid vampire type bats we see at Halloween, so here are the instructions for how to make miniature bats for your belfrys, bat houses, attics, caves or trees, modelled on any real bat you choose to copy.

These tiny bats are a lot easier to make than you think. They use only two colors of polymer clay (or you can use epoxy putty) and a bit of brown flocking. As their bodies and wings are rather flat on the back, you can easily make simple molds from a successful miniature bat so that you can have clusters of them wherever you want in your Halloween scene.
