Make a Dollhouse Child's Chair from Toothpicks and Wooden Stir Sticks

Monday January 5, 2009

I know we all long for wonderful scale turned legs to build chairs, but sometimes you can make do with simpler materials. This child's chair matches the Picket Gate Bed and uses similar techniques. It is an easy project, and can be built for next to nothing in terms of material cost. It might not be the most elegant piece of furniture you will build, but it is a great start to learning techniques that can be used in many other furniture projects. If an adult cuts the pieces to size, this is a good project for a child to complete.

The same techniques can be used with better wood and slightly larger dowels, to create stools, kitchen chairs and a number of other projects. I hope you had a great holiday season, and enjoyed the twelve days of Christmas projects. All of them will remain posted in their permanent categories on the site.
