Make Simple Bristle Brushes in Several Scales

Sunday January 4, 2009

Dolls house brushes with bristles are hard to find, and many are badly out of scale. They really aren't hard to make. These instructions show you how to make a dolls house scale hand mirror and hair brush for a traditional lady's dresser set. The styles of mirrors and brushes can easily be adapted and you can make them using several materials although these instructions use polymer clay.

If you don't need a hair brush, carve a piece of basswood into the basic shape for a scrubbing brush, or make a proper brush to swab the decks of your scale sailboat. You can make horse grooming gear using the same technique. Use black clay to represent rubber backs, or carve a bit of wood and use it for the back of a set for your grooming kit.
