Make Tiny Ribbon Bows for Miniature Packages and Dolls House Decorations

Tuesday November 18, 2008

Trained as a florist, I make all my bows for wrapping or decoration with a wire center. That way I can manipulate them to get the effect I want. You can use the same technique to make miniature bows for packages or decorations. If you want to sew the bows onto fabric, you can substitute a piece of ribbon or thread for the wire.

These instructions use a simple bow maker made from finishing nails and a scrap of wood. As with a lot of the instructions on this site, you could make a bow maker for full sized bows this way. If you have one of the old circular miniature bow makers that used self stick ribbon, gather up the center with a wire, and fluff out the sections following the instructions given for regular bows. No need to search out vintage self stick ribbon!
