Crackle Paint for Scale Miniatures

Wednesday November 5, 2008

I love my local stamp/scrapbooking shop. They let me know when something comes in that might work for miniature scales. Our latest find is Distress Crackle Paint by Ranger Industries. Part of the Tim Holtz Design range, this crackle paint for paper will also work on wood, plastic, bookboard and card. The size of the crack in the paint is determined by the thickness of paint you apply. Apply a thin coating, and your paint looks like it has been on a quarter scale fence picket for a lot of years!

I love being able to get accurate scale ageing effects in several modelling scales with one product. It helps if the range has a lot of colors and includes metallics! Now I can use the same paint for 1:12, 1:24 and 1:48 and smaller railroad scale projects, or just add a thin wash layer to add crackle to dolls house antiques. Shabby chic meets the dolls house!(and the railyard).
