Make An Inexpensive Room Box from Book Board

Friday August 15, 2008

This inexpensive dolls house room box is made from book board or Davey board, instead of wood. These boxes are ideal for children's projects and displays and can be made in any size. If you make a group of them, you can combine them together to make the rooms for a dolls house.

A class set of room boxes can be used to explore sustainable housing and environmental issues, using The Green Dollhouse Book . You can use the same box building technique to make wall displays by building boxes to fit inside inexpensive picture frames. Book board is not as commonly used for miniatures in North America as it is in Europe where it substitutes for wood in many miniature windows. Its a good material to turn to for simple box constructions as it takes paints and papers well, is acid neutral and inexpensive.
