Sculpt a Miniature Doll's Head

Friday April 18, 2008

Sculpting faces takes a bit of practice but it isn't as hard as many people think. Polymer clay and air drying clays including paper clay make it easy to make miniature characters. You can work from photographs, or create without a muse. It is always interesting to see if the modelling material has a mind of it's own. Sometimes despite your best efforts you will create all kinds of male characters and no females. Or you will set out to create children and create only seniors. Once you get used to the placement of the features it becomes much easier to create the faces you want. Experiment! A new face is only a few pokes of a tool away, and clay can be reused over and over again.
