Miniature Needlework Societies
Last fall I had an interesting chat with a member of the Guild of Miniature Needle Arts at their Miniatura Display. The Guild's Website now has a gallery of their competition prizewinners posted and the work is outstanding. The Guild have a very useful pdf file posted on their website of information on how to ensure needlepoint is stitched in true 1:12 scale. It fortunately includes tips for better viewing of the tiny holes on the up to 140 count silk gauze needed for some scales.
For those not quite at this level there is also a Miniature Needle Work Society which has three fascinating galleries up. Hand knit 1:12 scale longjohns with a backflap are included. The work of members of these societies is well worth viewing, especially if you enjoy working on knitting, crochet, embroidery or needlepoint projects in full size.
If any of you are working on needlework projects these days please leave your tips for the rest of us in the tips and techniques forum folder or send in some photos for the next community gallery update.
